Louis “Luigi” Cantone was born in Brooklyn, NY in December of 1964 to Italian parents who migrated from Naples, Italy to the United States. In New York City in 1982, at the age of 18, Luigi joined the Carvers & Gravers Union where he was to take on the unique craft of sculpting using hand-chiseling, which would allow him in his future to take his love for human beauty and artistic passions to a much larger scale.
Luigi recalls around the age of 12 is when he found the curiosity of art and beauty reading through various designer magazines that others his age would not. He realized his eye was drawn by the nature of human beauty, a good example, “Would be best described by the Philosopher Roger Scruton in “Why Beauty Matters”.” More personally, he saw the natural beauty in the woman’s aesthetic form. Then he would not have known that his future would come to combine his love for women’s beauty and his skilled craft of sculpting which to this day, is highly sought after for his visions as well creative techniques.
Recalling his past for more notable teachers, influencers, or mentors Luigi recognized John Louis Bartolomeo who resided in Phoenix who was a renowned architect and sculpture to have the biggest impact on the growth of his Craft. He would visit during the summers while working in Connecticut most to work with him directly. Then around 1997, while Luigi’s works were being displayed at the renowned David Beitzel Gallery in New York, NY where he recalls his art career earning notoriety where he sold many of his first pieces. Since then he's continued to have great success, being commissioned for different pieces for a vast variety of famous clientele as well does corporate commission requests while pursuing personal pieces.
